In conjunction with the The Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness, we have added a link to their web site and distribute their current informational flyer regarding Flu, Bird Flu and Pandemic Flu. This is available in English and Spanish in the Health section of our Links page. The East Haddam Free Public Library combines small town friendliness with
up-to-date computer technology. We offer our patrons WiFi Internet Access.
The library collection includes the latest in best selling fiction, constantly updated reference and non-fiction materials, large print books, and current magazines. We also offer books on tape for adults and children as well as a growing video collection. The library has summer reading lists for all of the local schools, including Mercy, Vinal and Xavier. Our juvenile collection ranges from board books to high school reading list selections. One unique feature is our "Granny Bag" which includes books, videos and a snack, to help grandparents entertain visiting grandchildren. The lower level of the library is a colorful, cozy space where young children can enjoy books, cassettes, videos, and computers. Our MissionThe East Haddam Free Public Library strives to assemble, preserve and administer, in organized collections, books and related educational and recreational material in order to promote the communication of ideas. We seek to provide opportunity and encouragement for children, young people, and adults to educate themselves continuously. We attempt to foster and instill the love of reading. We hope to provide a friendly, helpful atmosphere for all our visitors. Library ProfileOur collection includes a full range of classic literature, magazines, large print books, books on tape, the latest in bestsellers, and videos. Our reference section is constantly updated to provide the public with the latest information. Computers are available to the public for word processing and internet access. We use the State Library Service Center and the statewide ReQuest Inter-Library Loan System to obtain materials that may not be available in our current collection. As a community service, we offer home delivery and curb service for those who are unable to come into the library. The Children's Library is located on the lower level. It is well stocked with books, cassettes, videos and even has some soft toys for the children's enjoyment. We work with local school faculty to coordinate resources which provide students with access to materials from different libraries. Hours
